carrier confusion

Postby Harry H. » Tue Mar 29, 2011 9:27 am

I don't know why they are not sending me a health plan certificate, I have been out of work for 1 month. I suspect they are disorganized. How can I get them to send me a certificate?

The certificate should be sent within a reasonable period of time. Send them a demand letter.

Certificate of Prior Creditable Coverage

If you do not get a certificate, show you had creditable coverage with evidence of your prior health coverage which can include:

* Pay stubs that reflect a deduction for health coverage premiums;
* Copies of premium payments or other documents showing evidence of coverage;
* Explanation of benefit forms; and
* Verification by a doctor or your former health plan.

If you can pass a physical, you can also get your own private health plan

My COBRA expired because of my mistake. I thought I then had 63 days to regain coverage without a pre-existing condition exclusion. I am being told that it is only 31 days unless you had 18 months of creditable coverage. Confused.
