COBRA Health plan Advice for Individuals and Small Businesses

We know the COBRA regulations can be confusing for both employers and former employers. You are not alone, help is on our user board.

When your COBRA continuation benefits end

Your Cobra plan ends after you have been on it for up to 18 months, at your expense (dependents and spouses get up to 36 months). You can also:

  • Not pay premiums on a time
  • Move out of the plan's coverage area
  • Watch the employer discontinue group benefits
  • Enroll in another group plan
  • Buy an individual policy
It will also end for a beneficiary or spouse who becomes entitled to medicare benefits.
