I worked for a medical equipment company for 7 years until I had a disagreement with one of our long time customers. Then I was fired because my VP said I was misrepresenting the company (in a bad light). Can I still be offered COBRA?

You have to contact the company and find out who the health plan administrator is. And send a certified letter requesting your COBRA enrollment paperwork. What State are you in?

There's a difference being fired for performance issues or misconduct. Being terminated for "improper performance" may still qualify you for unemployment benefits and thusly COBRA.

But if your former company can justify you being fired for gross misconduct or a violation of written company policies, you may be COBRA eligible.

Regarding the definition of "gross misconduct," would this be included with an employee providing false government documentation such as driver's license, Social Security Card, and/or other forms of identification; and would not be qualified to receive COBRA benefits upon termination?

I DOUBT THEY WILL WITHHOLD YOUR BENEFITS EVEN IF THEY FIRED YOU. ONLY IF YOU DID SOMETHING HARDCORE. OF COURSE IF YOU HAD A PERSONAL CONFLICT, THERE MIGHT BE SOME HARD FEELINGS.
