If you are terminated from a job in Indianapolis, can the employer stop the insurance coverage that day?

Thank you for any help to this question.

They can depending on what the plan rules allow, but it's typical to lose your health insurance benefits upon termination. If the termination was not for willful misconduct, have you inquired or been contacted by your health plan administrator to see if you qualify for COBRA?

There is no Indiana mini COBRA regulation if you work for an employer with less than 20 full time employees. But If you were denied coverage when you apply again, Indiana has "Comprehensive Health Insurance" for State residents, law IC 27-8-10.

You can also get your own independent medical plan as a cobra alternative.

Did you get axed for gross misconduct? No “criminal” conduct was required to meet the “gross misconduct” definition. Gross misconduct can be an intentional, deliberate, extreme and outrageous that “shocks the conscience.” It can be “reckless or in deliberate indifference to an employer’s interests.” Thus, employees that routinely engage in unauthorized activities that are contrary to the interests of the employer or jeopardize the safety of other employees could be engaging in “gross misconduct.”

I actually had my health insurance canceled retroactively. I transferred to another division in another area and then the new division decided they didn't need my skill set so about a week after, I went to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. Rite Aide verified I was covered, but then the drug benefit and health insurance was dropped to the last date I'd actively worked, so the meds weren't covered.
