COBRA insurance questions I have gotten though Email

On Jan 12,2001 I fell at work and hurt my knee. I have been receiving medical attention from the compensation doctor. He says I cannot go back to work yet (I am also 5 mos. pregnant) The problem is the company I worked for (Grand Union) has been sold to Stop & Shop Corp., and I received a phone call from my immediate boss informing me that if I don't return before 2/14/01 (that's when they take over) I will be terminated. That would leave me with no health benefits. My husband (who is self-employed) is covered under my plan and is scheduled for surgery on 2/19/01. Please help me I don't know what to do.

Did the Grand Union health plan end after Stop & Shop Corp bought them?

If so, COBRA may not be an option. Your injury under workers comp should be covered, but not the pregnancy. Also you can try and get coverage un HIPAA.

You can try your states high risk fund or get into an association.
