COBRA insurance problems (with solutions) I have gotten though EmailDoes the fact that we joined an association in NY mean that we might be eligible for COBRA? Is is considered a group? How much is Cobra in Northern California? What happens if the baby is born with any problems that require long term care, will we ever be able to get insured on an individual policy after COBRA expires? Thank you for your time... M. Robertson M: Well, the association's health plan would have to have coverage in your new location / California. The problem with getting COBRA from your NY plan, is that there may not be any approved doctors in CA for you to go to. So it would not make sense to pay the premiums, but only have health care in NY. You probably don't qualify for HIPAA either. Do you have less than 18 months of continuous coverage? You may try the AIM program here in CA if you are middle income. |
