COBRA questions (with answers) I have received via Email

Craig:

I will be retiring from my place of employment in May, 2001 at which time I will turn 60 years of age. I will have COBRA for 18 months, but then what? Do you know of any insurance companies that take on individuals without having to pay a high monthly premium? Or what other options should I be looking at?

Ginger:

After you retire, then exhaust your coverage you will be 61 or 62. At that point you may want to find out the premiums for HIPAA. If you are in good shape, you may still get cheaper coverage with private health insurance here.

If you aren't so healthy, then you will have to use HIPAA, or see if you can secure a deal with your employer in regards to your medical, while you retire.
