Under the COBRA law, no I don't believe so. COBRA is very specific about applying to spouses and dependents. However, I believe the company can (if their insurance carrier agrees to it) offer extended coverage to DPs but it would not be required, based on my prior understanding, and it would not have the same legal protections that COBRA does. I think your best bet would be to call the plan administrator and find out if they offer any continuation for DPs.
