You are in a tough position (without COBRA). No private health insurance company in their right minds would insurance you.
A pregnancy could cost a lot of money if their are complications or a premature birth. Either way, the company would pay more to the hospital then you could pay in permiums in 9 short months or less.
Focus on COBRA and follow up closely with her employer to get COBRA. Any premiums you pay are probably going to be a lot less than the cost of the delivery, OBGYN and well baby visits, etc. combined.
