Incorrect COBRA Rates
I was incorrectly told by my former employer that my COBRA rates would be $265/month for my 3 children only. The rates came back as $326 per month, per child, or $978/mo. I disputed this with the COBRA administrator and my former employer, and lo and behold the election dates have arrived. My former employer apologized to me for the inconvenience, and stated that with the prior administrator, they had done this with no problem. Is there legal recourse for the apparent misinformation from the HR dept at this corporation of approximately 300 employees?
