COBRA vs State Continuation Plan in NJ
have a question about the difference in POLICY regarding the employers responsibility for State Continuation Plan (SCP). I am currently on this plan as my former employer has less than 20 employees. It seems as if they think they can make up their own rules when it comes to providing me and my health insurance company with documentation and notification under this plan for medical benefits.
I have had several issues with them and find it very difficult to get any answers from my former employer, but the response I get is "our attorneys said we don't have to do that".
Also the only "policy" I received about the State Continuation Plan is that the "current Full Family Coverage cost as charged by the healthcare company and that may change without notice at any time. "
"Failure to receive the premium payment by the due date (prior to the 1st of each month) will result in the cancellation of your health insurance."
"There will be no reminder notices sent to you that your premium payment is overdue."
THoughts??
