ADP lost paperwork
I almost passed out today.
My husband became disabled May 2002. We were able to stay on his company insurance for a short time and than opted for Cobra.
My husband was awarded SSDI August 2003. We sent the Award Letter to ADP immediatly with letter requesting the extention of benefits.
We received letter from ADP saying our extention was granted and COBRA was approved through 7/31/05.
Early October 2004. Received letter from Blue Cross that COBRA coverage would terminate as of Dec. 1, 2004.
ADP Benefit Services never sent copy of award letter to Blue Cross.
ADP admits receiving letter with proof, but can't find proof. I've spent month and a half calling both companies. I even sent Blue Cross copy of letter I received from ADP granting the extention. My calls to see if this was good enough were not returned.
Finally today I reach them. ADP tells me do to a "glitch in there system" I need to send new award letter. I request new letter from SS, but they say will take 10 days.
I call Blue Cross and tell them I've requested a new letter and should receive by Nov. 28th and will fax to them upon receipt.
I get told that the computer system has our drop date as December 1st and she would have to do a manual override of the system and she is very busy and may not remember.
This was late this afternoon. I've emailed Insurance Commission & tomorrow am will call HR. person where husband worked.
I did everything right, yet we can be denied coverage because ADP has system glitch and Blue Cross staff has work overload.
How far is this??
