COBRA eligiblity under new employer
I am considering resigning from my job and accepting a new one. My new employer offers health coverage immediately.
My wife is 8 mos. pregnant. She wants to stay with her current doctor and hospital choice. I'm concerned my new employer won't cover our current doctor and hospital choice, at least not as "in network".
If I choose to forego the coverage my new employer offers temporaily... can I use COBRA to continue my current level of benefits through baby's delivery? Or does the mere availability of new coverage disqualify me even if I don't elect it?
