Since no packet was forthcoming, my husband called his old employer to see what was going on. They said they had notified their third-party paycheck/benefits firm a few days before, although a call to that firm revealed that they had no idea what we were talking about. Another call to the old employer resulted in a weak promise to "look into it", but I wouldn't hold my breath.
So now it's August 17 and the packet has presumably not been sent out (although we'll wait and check the postmark if we have to). I'm telling my OB and family doctor that the paperwork is being processed. What's our next step re: obtaining COBRA and/or reporting a blatant violation?
