COBRA is seemless coverage so if you do have a claim before enrolling, it's retroactive. Just make sure you enroll during the qualification period.
Also you are correct, you will have to pay cash first for the medical expenses then get reimbursed afterwards. Not an ideal scenario when talking about a health insurance carrier.

: If I lose coverage from termination of a job on January 1st, I then have 60 days to gain coverage with COBRA. Should I have a claim on
: February 1st, but have not enrolled in COBRA yet, will that claim still be covered under COBRA if I enroll immediately following like on February 5th (35 days from termination with priot company) or do only claims that are covered post enrollment qualify? I thought I heard COBRA will cover prior cases but the policyholder must pay in retro.
