In Florida legal separation is not recognized. So two people headed for divorce would not qualify for a life changing event to change COBRA benefits. Can an employer cancel on one for nonpayment but keep the other party on the plan Although there has been not event to split the plan? Some states honor legal separation, but Florida does not.
