Obtaining refunded for COBRA fees paid during coverage interruption
Late December of last year I left my employer (voluntarily and in good standing) and was offered COBRA coverage for the company's Health Insurance and Dental Insurance plans.
Through what was, allegedly, a clerical error, my employer terminated my COBRA benefits two weeks after my termination date. I did not receive any notice from the health insurance company (BCBS of Massachusetts) about the loss of these health insurance benefits and continued to pay my fykk COBRA balance - which included the fees for the Health Insurance plan that was no longer being provided.
The error was not discovered until mid-March when I needed to make a claim. After phoning BCBS to alert them of the matter, they contacted my employer who then agreed to re-instated the benefits.
Can anybody suggest how I could go about recovering the money that was paid to the COBRA administrator for the health insurance that was not provided during the period my employer had terminated my coverage? Specifically, I'd like to know who to contact, what forms of proof I need, etc.
My thanks in advance for any help.
