Hi,

While on maternity leave my WA State company switched health care providers and they also only covered me through my short term disability timeframe. They claim they do not have Cobra since they are too small. They may have less than 20 employees now, but did not when I went on leave. They also never stated either way whether they would cover my health care while I was out and because they covered part of it I figured they would cover all of it. It is not specified in their employee handbook. At this point it seems as if I either need to pay my work to join their new health plan or get individual coverage. In both situations I lose the fact that I paid my deductible. Where do I actually find out the size of my company? And do contractors and people who live in other states count towards the employee count?
