: Hello - I have done much researching on this subject and while my question seems 'simple' I cannot find the simple answer. Our company is currently in our Open Enrollment period, an active employee chooses to drop a spouse's coverage 'in anticipation' of a divorice (date of divorice so far unknown). Our Open Enrollment changes will be effective 1/1/09. How long does the active employee and/or the 'divoriced' spouse have to notify us of a qualifing event, where we would be required to offer the divoriced dependent spouse COBRA? All indications I have show me that the divorice would have to happen within 60 days that the active employee dropped the spouse dependent during our open enrollment... Is this correct?
