They are probably right since COBRA is supposed to be continuous.
You technically don't qualify to be reinstated for COBRA because you elected other health insurance and because of the lapse.
a reinstatement 5 months after lapse is rare. Most admins would tell you "sorry."

: After a year on disability , my benefits were cut-off on 11/18/08. I did not elect COBRA coverage past that point because of the cost. Now , with the subsidy I would like to get COBRA. The problem is the BenifitsExpess Co. say I have to pay the full price of COBRA from 11/18/08 to present to get the subsidized COBRA. That amounts to over 3 thousand dollars to pay for a service I was cut-off from since 11/18/08. I already had other high deductible insurance to fill the gap. Does anybody have any advice about this ?
