Late notice
I was terminated from a county job on April 17,2009. I just received a COBRA notice dated July 21, 2009. Fraom what I have been reading the county was considerably out od the statutory period for notification.
They are asking for a retroactive $1395 per month for family plan coverage when I only had joint coverage for my wife and myself. They are also not offering the reduced COBRA premium as recently enacted into law.
I have found employment and would consider the COBRA benefits until my new benefits pick up. However, I am not willing to pay the retroactive $1395 per month nor am I willing to pay that going forward.
What is the next step for mr to take?
