: I have recently been released from my job and am still waiting for my COBRA "package". I have contacted my previous employer who has told me to contact their insurance provider and to "try, try again". I contacted this provider and they have not returned my three phone calls. Who do I contact next. Thank you for your time.

How long has it been?
By law, the former employer has 30 days to notify the COBRA administrator of your seperation from the company. The admin then has 14 days to send you a COBRA election notice with plans, prices, and rules. You will have 60 days from the date on the notice to decide if you wish to continue your coverage. Once you elect to continue, you then have 45 days to make the initial payment. You will be responsible to pay back to the date of coverage loss. Once you elect and pay your account current, your coverage will retro back to the coverage loss date. At that time, you can submit manual claims to the insurance carrier for reimbursement of out of pocket expenses.
