Bud & Karen:

If you haven't heard already, the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act gave recipients nine months of subsidized coverage. The new legislation adds another six months of subsidies on top of that, or 15 months in all. The original law applied only to workers who were laid off between Sept. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2009. The new law extends eligibility for the subsidies to people laid of through Feb. 28, 2010.

: : Does anyone know if there is a possibility that the discounted rate of Cobra for those that were laid off from their jobs will be extended past the 9 months?

: Karen, Have you received any response to your question. I'm in the same situation and my subsidized coverage expires next week.

: Please let me know if anyone provides you with a worthwhile reply. Thanks, Bud
