Qualifying for COBRA depends on what state you are in, and how many employees are at your current job.
If you are sure COBRA available to you, that might be cheaper. You could try and get underwritten by a company, and that doesn't cost you anything.
I like e-health since they give you many options. Check out their rates at http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-3771903-10481703. But qualifying for those options is a different story.
If you decide to visit e-health, ask the agent if the companies would qualify you as a group of one. Also you could start a group of more than one, if any members of your family are employable. But then you also have to figure in workers comp, payroll taxes, etc.
And if you belong to any professional organizations, trade unions, etc. you could inquire if you qualify there.
Finally, you could see if your State provides a high risk health insurance pool, there will be a waiting list and it won't be cheap.

: I am leaving my current job which had health insurance and starting my own business. I have 2 dependant minor's. Is COBRA the way for me to go to get helth insurance? I have pre-existing conditions and my family is under medical care frequently. My old insurance was with Blue Cross.
