Once you are laid off, I think you are terminated from the company, and retirement is not an option, irrespective of COBRA. But that is my opinion.

: If I am laid-off and elect COBRA coverage for 18 months and then decide at the end of or any time during COBRA coverage to formally retire, does my employer have to offer me my retirement benefits that were in effect while I was actively working?
