COBRA Health plan Advice for Individuals and Small Businesses |
We are not COBRA. For specific contract details about your current company policy, contact your health plan administrator.
I was just terminated on Feb 2, 2010. The employer has offered COBRA. I want to sign up for COBRA with the premium reduction of 65%. As I am 67, I did previously enroll in Medicare for just Part A. I never used Medicare. Am I eligible for getting the 65% premium reduction?
As I find that if I wanted to take part in Medicare, I would need to sign up for the Part B, Part D and other Supplemental Coverage’s. However, I am told by Social Security that March 2010 is the first month I could be eligible for Part B, Part D and other Supplemental and I would need to make the declaration by February 28, 2010.
As I result, without COBRA I would not have coverage for this current month of February 2010 and be financially responsible for medical visits I have had this month and or other medical visits I will have this month. The payment of the COBRA premium without the COBRA premium reduction is $500.00.
Your advice is most appreciated.
