If the check is made out to the Insurance company, then the company won't get their portion. The COBRA notice your husband received should have shown who the checks need to be made out to. Maybe if you gave a copy of that to the new employer, they will change how they do the checks.
Yes, call the insurance co before I heard from you and that is correct. So the new employer agreed to make it out to them after the verification from the Ins. co. Thank you for time.
