Preexisting conditions
I am a dependant under my spouse's insurance. Currently with BC/BS since 16 Feb 04, on Cobra during 12/1/03 til 2/16/04. Prior with Aetna thru Capital One (spouse was laid off when Cap One outsourced jobs to India). Treatment date of 11/16/04 with nurse practitioner - renew meds and routine exam after moving to Colorado from Virginia. Part of diagnosis - asthma. Claim filed and denied by BC/BS as pre-existing, no coverage. Also, later visit on 12/6/04 to same provider also included diagnosis for asthma and respiratory restrictions. However, this claim was honored and processed as usual. What is the problem with BC/BS? I thought Cobra and Hippa precluded them from and such exclusion. Please advise.
