Spouses can get up to 36 months due to divorce or death of the other spouse.
If the initial qualifying event was your wife leaving her job, then you both are eligible for 18 months. If either of you has received a Social Security disability determination, then you can receive an additional 11 months to get up to the 29 months mentioned.
