Terry: When you orginally signed up for the health plan, you should have received a notice of COBRA rights, along with the plan document showing what coverages you had. That document should answer all your questions.
Generally, yes .. you will be eligible for COBRA if you leave a job voluntarily, but only for 18 months. You are required to pay the full cost of coverage, though, including any portion that the employer may have been paying. Your HR department will give you all this information when you advise them of your termination.
