COBRA continuation for spouse and Medicare
We started COBRA June 2003. August 2003 my husband was awarded SSDI. I provided the documents and his coverage was extended until 8/1/05 and mine until 10/31/05.
I contacted the insurance company and they told me that my husbands coverage would end 8/1/05, but that I could continue until 6/1/05. This would be the 36 month maximum.
I sent the appropriate forms to the third party administrator and they wrote back and said my coverage would end 10/31/05 and I was not eligible for the extention for the full 36 months.
I'm getting two different answers. I've emailed the Department of Labor to see what they say, but wondering if anyone here knows the correct answer. Thanks
