Sarah, It depends on how much you need the coverage. I suggest you pay the difference if you can and then work it out afterwards. The COBRA law is clear that they can cancel you for nonpayment.
Every company has what is called open enrollment. At this time premiums can change.
Because of the time delay in COBRA, I have heard of mistakes happening and sometimes it is a misunderstanding. Problem is if they are right and you don't pay, you lose coverage.
