She will be entitled to a total of 36 months continuation as long as it is a fully-insured PPO plan and not a self-funded/self-insured plan.

18 months federal COBRA followed by 18 months under Cal-COBRA.

There used to be a senior extension to age 65 but it was phased-out at the beginning of the year.

: I am enrolled in a PPO with a California-based employer with 50 employees. I turn 65 in February and plan to go on Medicare. My wife will be 62 when I turn 65. Is it fair to assume that whe will be entitled to COBRA coverage until she turns 65? Is this true whether or not I stay employed by the employer?

: Thank you.
