I left my job, and have already talked to Human Resources about COBRA, and they say that they review COBRA cases every fifth of the month. My last day of employment with them was the 23rd of August, and they said that I am definitely eligible for COBRA, but I have to wait for the paperwork to come. My question is . . . From now until the COBRA paperwork is processed, and I definitely am electing COBRA, what if I have to go to the doctor's office, or get a prescription filled? Do I have to pay for those expenses out of my own pocket, and then get re-imbursed later on? I am very sick and need prescriptions every month - there is no way I can afford this myself while waiting for COBRA to kick in.
