Husband out of work on short-term disability...just found out his employer didn't renew his health insurance
My husband has been out of work since November 3, 2004 due to a nonwork related back injury, He's out on his short-term disability policy through his employer. When his physical therapist called to get approval from husbands insurance for continuation of PT, was informed that he no longer has health insurance. Contacted insurance company and they say his employer did NOT renew his coverage, and no reason was given. We have been trying repeatedly to contact the administrator for his employers benefits and insurance policies to find out what's going on...have been trying to to contact them since late November to find out what would happen with his benefits including health insurance - but have not heard word one from them. Not a single phone call returned and not a notice of anything in the mail. What do we do about his health insurance? And, who do we go to to get some resolution for this issue? This is utter nonsense and we have no idea what's going on...is there some federal agency or something we can contact who might spur this company to answer some questions? This is a private, for profit business employing more than 20 people.
