Employer did not make my Insurance payments with COBRA

I just found out that my ex-employer has not made my insurance payments from June to August. I paid Infinisource over $1,100 and they have posted my payments and forwarded to my old employer.I am diabetic and had 2 doctors visits canceled and prescriptions not filled because they told me I had no inurance. My new employers insurance finally kicked in so I got to see my doctor last month. Last week I received bills for blood work done that were not paid.Infinisource has stated they will re-instate my health insurance. I feel I would rather have my $1100 back and pay the $250 blood work bill out of that since I do have coverage now. Is this possible what are my options?
