Seth:
I got this from the February 1999 final regulations:
"In the case of a qualified beneficiary who is born to or placed for adoption with a covered employee during a period of COBRA continuation coverage, the final regulations clarify that the 60-day period is measured from the date of the child's birth or placement for adoption."

: I'm writing this message in hopes of helping a friend. She recently had a baby and has a full time job. Her current insurance has a 30 day window following birth to add the newborn to the plan. UNFORTUNATELY, she missed this window through oversight. NOW, her insurance won't add the baby and her husband wont have coverage for himself until Mid April because he has a new job.
: So, there are two problems -- ONE, she will soon be receiving bills from the hospital and doctors for the total cost of "aftercare" for her son. Is there a way cobra can help. Is there a way for force her insurance to add her. Are there provisions out there for uninsured children??? Is she stuck with the bills for him???
: TWO -- what does she do for the next two months for her son in regards to making sure he has insurance for himself. Can Cobra be of help here?
: Any advice anyone has would be appreciated???
