Long story. I left job in May 2001. I was given a settlement and resigned. I called to ask about insurance, which I did not understand. I was never given anything nor would they call back. I call the insurance company and they stated I was still covered. This went on for many many months. My doctors called to verify eligibilty, each time they stated I was covered. Even for major surgery. Recently, I got a letter from my insurance company stating I was no longer covered and I owed all the charges incurred from 05/01. Then I got a letter from my ex-emploe\yer that stated I could pay my COBRA up to this date. This being almost two years later. They then sent me a letter upon my request, stating they never had offered me COBRA. Do I owe the premiums? Do they owe the $110/day for no notification? I am on disability and cannot pay these premiums up to date nor can I pay the medical bills. I have had public aid but was not eligible for these benefits because they called and the insurance stated I was covered. They would have paid the medical bills then, but not now. What can I do?????? HELPPPPPPP
