If you are currently covered under your spouse's group health plan, and they have 20+ employees or you state has mini-COBRA for those under 20 employees, you should be able to elect COBRA for up to 3 years at divorce.

If you are heatlhy, I might suggest looking into regular individual coverage as it would be cheaper than COBRA premiums.

: I will soon be divorced. I have not been employed in ~ 9 yrs. I will be attending college full-time for 2-3 yrs. I'm 45 yrs. old. I need to obtain my own health insurance. Would I be eligible for COBRA? If so, how would I go about receiving a quote and/or signing up for it? Thank you.
