I've been informed that COBRA would cease once I become "covered" under another plan (new employer). Does "covered" mean that such a group plan is simply "available", or does it mean that I would have to apply for, be accepted, and pay premiums for such coverage? This is a confusing term because there are always employees who opt NOT to be "covered" under their employer's plan because they might be able to obtain better coverage under their spouse's plan or, in my case, my former employer's COBRA plan. Has this issue ever come up?
