My husband left a job on Friday May 16, and we haev just found out we were only covered by that company until 5-31. His new employer will not cover us for 30 days after his hire, which was Monday May 19. Shouldn't his old employer have covered us for 30 days after his employment ended so we would not have to use the COBRA? This especially makes sense because no new employee has health care benefits for 30 days after hire.
