Tanya:

COBRA is almost never reinstated once it's canceled. The company looks at it as one less hassle. However, there is a grace period with COBRA, and i am not clear on if you were referring to the last possible due date or the last due date before you get into your grace period.

If you are healthy, consider private medical coverage, it might be a lot cheaper than COBRA.

Craig: My payment was mailed on the 30th not the 31st. My Cobra third party billing company told me my payments were due the last day of the month when I called in, but my bill said the 30th. I listened to them and mailed it on the 31st. The 30th was the last day of my grace period. My bill is due on the 1st of each month. I have paid for the last year on time. When I called them today they told me tough luck because it is all computerized and that they were sorry they gave me misinformation. I called the HR person from my old company, but she hasn't called me back. The third party company told me if I am cancelled I will have to file an appeal with my old company. Do you think they will cancel me? If so, what is the likelihood that I will be reinstated?
