Hannah:

You have 60 days from the date the paperwork was sent or the day you lost your health coverage (whichever is later), and 45 days to pay your first premium, from the date you got your paperwork.

If you have no or only minor pre existing conditions, get quotes for major medical coverage, it might be a lot less than COBRA.

: When I terminated employment I thought I had up to 90 days to tell my employer that I wanted to be covered under COBRA. I knew if I waited to say day 60 I would have to come up with all the money to cover the first 60 days already passed plus the 30 ahead of me. My employer says this is not so and I need my health coverage. How long from date of termination do I have to decide to continue my coverage under COBRA?
