It depends on if his employer is church related, why he is losing his job, and of course if the state you reside in even has a mini cobra law.
There are lots of other options, like a new employer, association or union, or private major medical coverage.

: My husband will be losing his job on Aug 1st. The company has 10 employees. Can we apply for mini Cobra law until he finds a new job??? Any other options for a family of 4?
