I think you are putting the cart before the horse, but I don't see a problem as long as you don't have both. The cobra police will not be paying you a visit. Now if you enroll in another plan and especially if you have a claim, that could turn into a real headache.
It also depends on if your emplyer pays a portion of the premium and if you can keep your physcians with the new group policy?
If you have no or only minor pre existing conditions, get quotes for major medical coverage, it might be a lot less than COBRA.

: I am going to be laid off from my job soon. My wife and I really like the health plan we are on. If my next job does not offer me the same health plan, is there any problem if I elect not to go on the new company's health plan (if I was eligible and their plan did not have limits for pre-exiting conditions), and decide to stay on COBRA (the old co.'s health plan)? We would like to keep the same doctors we have been so happy with.
