You must use and exhaust COBRA before you become eligible for HIPAA. It's one of the requirements for HIPAA.

: I was diagnoised with Type 2 diabetes a year ago and have had success with medication. I am now self-employed but eligible for COBRA? Will I be able to get insurance through HIPAA now or do I have to wait? What will the cost be? I live in Florida and I am considered high risk for other health insurance companies.
