I was injured on the job over 2 years ago. I was about a year later that my health insurance was going to cancel and I would have to start paying for it. I told the human resourses person that I had not recieved a letter stating this, but she said well i told you before. I paid a very small amount for the 1st month about$8 or $9.00. Then the next month she said I would have to pay $380.00. Well I paid it that was for coverage on me only for that month it would have been close to $1000.00 for my family coverage. I did recieve a letter later for my husband but not for me. Then about 6 months ago I get a billing statement from my employers new insuranse co. They had paid a bill of mine turned in by the hospital where I workrd. I called to see if I had insurance. Human resourses said NO. So after getting a few more paid bills in the mail I called the insuranse co who promtly sent me a insurance card and a letter stating that I had been covered 100% for the past 18 months. I have had a terrible time tring to get medical treatment during this peroid. I know that when the company changed insurance providers that they held my insurance card and information from me. I found out they did another lady the same way that was off due to a work related injury. I have a work comp suit against them now. But I feel that my Cobra rights have been violated. I was told by management at the corporate office when I was going to apply for my retirement that I could keep my health coverage if I choose to I would just have to pay for it. So I was lied to at my workplace and I was denied access to my coverage I think because of the work comp suit. Can you give some advice? Thank You.
