I was laid off from my company without notice on August 3, 2003. I was told my company insurance would run out August 31, 2003 and that I would have to pick up with COBRA at that point. My question is that All employees qualified for insurance at this company the 1st day following their hiring, but everyone had to prepay one month of insurance. So if I started in October, my insurance started in November (which I prepaid) and then regular deductions were then taken out of each month's checks for December and on and on for the last 3 years...........Our company is large, over 97 in house so there is no question of qualifying - but what about that month of insurance I prepaid? They refuse to either reimburse it or grant me credit. I really need help here because I am 50 AND in the last year have had a cervical fusion and a right hip replacement as a result of AVN. I have severe degenerative arthritis on top of all this so I can't take a chance of a lapse in coverage and getting a pre-existing rider put on future coverage once I find new employment.
