It's over the election period now and we initially electing not to add me to COBRA. My husband did elect the COBRA since he has a pre-existing condition.
I just found out we are unexpectedly pregnant. My individual policy doesn't start until Sep 1st but it doesn't include maternity coverage anyway. In Florida, I think pregnancy can not be considered a pre-existing condition, so we are wondering if he can add me to the COBRA now?
If so, will I have to pay retro payments as well dating back to June when he quit, or will it start when I request to be added?
The company just changed insurance carriers on Aug 1st so it should still be open enrollment. We just sent his COBRA election for the new plan last week but again we did not elect coverage for myself because we didn't know until now.
Thanks for your input. Dawn
