It might be legal if they request all people in your risk catagory to pay a year in advance, which is hard to believe.
I would check with the department of insurance, this does should highly discriminatory.

: I'm a 50yr old man I was just informed by my insurance co. that to continue my coverage I have to pay for the entire year in advance. This is impossible on a social-workers income. I can only imagine the reason is that they have decided not to cover me and don't want to be accused of denying me coverage, so they made the terms impossible for me to meet. This is obviously unethical, but I question the legality. Can they do this to me legally, and what recourse do I have? Or do I just have to go untreated and possibly die from being forced to stop med treatment?
